Maintaining a Hot Water Heater
You may not be aware of the fact that your hot water heater needs routine maintenance in order to operate at full capacity. In order for it to continue functioning efficiently, you will need to vent radiators and have the boiler drained. It may help to understand how your hot water system works. This type of system is closed and circulates water consistently through the pipes directly into the boiler. In newer models, the heating system may have several water pipes. One allows heated water to go to the intended area while the other sends water back to the boiler to be reheated. With the newer hot water system, it allows every room to experience the desired temperature, unlike the older systems.
Our service technicians will lubricate the pump motor when they are handling the maintenance of your hot water heater. Not every system has an automatic purge system. This means that our technician will have to vent the radiators. This is accomplished by first opening the valves to let out the air, keeping them open until the water begins flowing out. Something is placed underneath to catch the water. Next, we will close the valve. The boiler is drained so that runt and mineral deposits do not develop. This is accomplished by making sure the water and power are turned off. A garden hose is stuck into the boiler drain, vent valves are opened and turn on the water so that the fresh water flushes through.
While this may sound like a lot to do, it isn’t much at all for the trained professionals at Rite Rate. We do everything necessary to keep your hot water heater operating the way it should thus helping you to minimize the expenses associated with purchasing a hot water system.
